INVESTMENT VISA

Investment visa

Foreign investors who wish to invest in Thailand are eligible to obtain a Thai Investment visa for one year under these investment categories. This type of visa is renewable every year. After three consecutive years of maintaining both the investment in Thailand and the visa, the holder of the Investment Visa is then eligible to apply for a permanent resident status. There are two sets of qualifications depending on whether one wishes to invest 10 million baht or 3 million baht. 

Qualifications for those investing 10 million baht:

(1) Must have been granted a Non-Immigrant visa (NON-IM). 
(2) Must have evidence of having transferred funds into Thailand of no less than 10 million baht. 
(3) Must have evidence of investing in the purchase or rental of a condominium unit for a period of no less than 3 years issued by a relevant agency or government, at a purchase or rental price of no less than 10 million baht, or 
(4) Must have evidence of investing in the form of a fixed deposit of no less than Baht 10 million with a bank which is registered in Thailand and has Thai nationals holding more than 50 percent of its shares, or 
(5) Must have evidence of investing in the purchase of government or state enterprise bonds of no less than 10 million baht, or 
(6) Must have evidence of making an investment as set out in Criteria (3), (4), or (5) with a total value of not less than 10 million baht. 
  

Qualifications for those investing 3 million baht:

(1) Must have been granted a Non-Immigrant visa (NON-IM);
(2) Must have entered the Kingdom before 1 October, 2006 and must have been consecutively permitted to stay in the Kingdom for an investment of no less than 3 million baht 
(3) Must have evidence of having transferred funds into Thailand of no less than 3 million baht 
(4) Must have evidence of investing in the purchase of a condominium unit for no less than 3 million baht issued by a relevant agency or by the government, or 
(5) Must have evidence of investing in the form of a fixed deposit of no less than 3 million baht with a bank which is registered in Thailand and has Thai nationals holding more than 50 percent of its shares, or 
(6) Must have evidence of investing in the purchase of government or state enterprise bonds of no less than 3 million baht, or 
(7) Must have evidence of making an investment as set out in Criteria (4), (5), or (6) with a total value of no less than 3 million baht.
